There is nothing more stunning than watching a whale dive deep, exposing its enormous tail before disappearing into the depths. This whale was in Witless Bay in Newfoundland. 

This larger than life whale tale appeared just beside our boat in Witless Bay, Newfoundland.  It was so close to us that it felt as though I could sense the substance of this beautiful ocean giant. What a blessing it was to have this moment.  

I was in a small Zodiac boat in Witless Bay Ecological Reserve, Newfoundland, beside this humpback whale who was in an incredibly playful mood repeatedly bringing up her fins and  crashing them down in the water.  It was very precious to be with this gentle giant. 

Just before ending our Witless Bay whale tour, this whale breached so close to our boat. It was for me the first time I had the grace to watch a whale hurl itself above the water.  To date they still don't know why a whale does this.  It makes it even more magical.
